
Bettina M. Beech

Dr. Beech is the Chief Population Health Officer at the University Houston where she founded UH Population Health – a university-wide enterprise with the mission to drive discovery to enhance social mobility and quality of life through transformative learning opportunities, multisector partnerships and innovative research. Prior to her recruitment to the University of Houston, Dr. Beech was the Founding Dean of the John D. Bower School of Population Health and Founding Executive Director of the Myrlie Evers Williams Institute for the Elimination of Health Disparities at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is an executive leader with a national reputation for her innovations in population health.
Dr. Beech has a strong relationship with the Evers family and has a deep appreciation of its legacy. She is a creative thinker and will be a tremendous asset to cultivate relationships with philanthropic organizations. Dr. Beech earned a DrPH in Community Health Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Public Health, received postdoctoral training in behavioral science at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and completed leadership training from the American Council on Education (ACE) and from the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM). She has recently been elected as a Fellow of the American Heart Association and the most recent recipient of the J. Michael McGinnis Leadership Excellence Award from the Interdisciplinary Association for Population Health Science.
